CONNIE AUCOIN FOR JUDGE
EDUCATION:
Connie Aucoin was born and raised in St. Charles Parish. She attended St. Charles Borromeo Elementary School in Destrehan. Connie graduated with honors from Destrehan High School in 1992, where she received both the River Parish Maintenance, Inc. and Knights of Columbus scholarships for leadership and academic excellence. She then graduated Cum Laude from LSU with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication/Journalism. While attending LSU, Connie interned with both the Houma Courier and the LA Rural Caucus covering the Legislative Sessions in 1995 and 1996 as a reporter and press release correspondent, respectively.
In 2000, Connie graduated from LSU Law School and was admitted to practice law in the State of Louisiana. She was selected to be the Ombudsman for LSU where she was tasked with guiding undergraduate students and faculty through the grievance and issue resolution process of the university. She was also nominated for membership in the Wex Malone Inn of Court for excellence in Trial Advocacy. In 2001, Connie applied and was admitted to the Eastern, Middle and Western Louisiana Districts of the United States Federal Court.
LEGAL EXPERIENCE:
Connie has over 18 years of trial and appellate experience in both state and federal courts (with an additional 2 years as a law clerk). Her civil litigation experience spans the areas of employment law, insurance, medical malpractice, civil rights, transactional and business litigation, personal injury and family law.
In 2012, Connie was hired as an Assistant District Attorney in St. Charles Parish. For the past seven years she worked as a Prosecutor in Division C, representing the State in over a thousand felony and misdemeanor criminal cases including screening, pre-trial litigation, trials and sentencing. She has an undefeated record for felony jury trials. In her capacity as an Assistant District Attorney, Connie also participates in referrals, staffing and recommendations for the St. Charles Parish Drug Court Program. Connie is a Legal Aspects Instructor for St. Charles Sheriff’s Office Regional P.O.S.T. Academy classes.
PERSONAL:
Connie and her husband, Rusty Landeche, have been married for 19 years and reside in Destrehan with their two teenage children. They are Parishioners of St. Charles Borromeo Church where they are active in the Marriage Preparation Ministry for newly engaged couples as well as volunteers for the Little Red Church Food and Fun Festival each year. When their children attended St. Charles Borromeo, Connie was heavily involved as a parent, PTFO Board Member and President, and served as Chairperson of the Extravaganza Committee for several years. Both Connie and her husband Rusty coached for the St. Charles Parish Recreation Department. Connie is a member of the St. Charles Parish Bar Association and the Republican Women of St. Charles Parish.
